This was definitely one of my favourite module in NUS. The content was split into 8 chapters and each chapter comprised of a medical technology and corresponding medical applications.
Endoscopy: Colorectal and stomach cancer
Laser: Diabetic retinopathy, glaucom, cataracts
Ultrasound: Imaging of carotid arterial wall, obstetrics
Radiography and CT: Osteogorotics fractures, osteoarthritis, breast cancer
Nuclear medicine: Vascular dementia, cancer imaging
MRI: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Radiation therapy: DNA Repair, prostate cancer
Nanomedicine: Drug delivery, magnetic nanoparticles, nanoparticle toxicology
We also had to complete 4 tutorials on:
Diet and lifestyle risk factors
Alcohol addiction
Hearing loss in young Singaporeans
Open-ended discussion on the interdependency between Technology and Health (our group chose to dive into Sleep tech)
